I use what almost everyone in here uses after break in, mobil one 15w50. I go to the dealer for the filter, I have not found one from a parts store that fits right yet.

I would wait until at least 1500-2000 miles to goto synthetic...Until then go with Silkolene Ride 4T 20W-50 should be about $3.50 a quart (you need 4)...I will also recommend the K&N Oil filter part # KN-204 I think (check me on that one)...Silkolene is the best motorcycle oil in my opinion...just remember to stick with the same brand throughout the life of the bike...finally make sure to do it yourself, you can search this website for instructions on how to do it...really easy and under $30 (and 20 minutes) including your filter...wow I can't stop typing...last thing I live in California where it never gets cold so I go with the 20W-50...if it is going to get cold when you have the same oil go with 10W-40 (First # is low temp viscosity...lower the better, Second # is high temp viscosity higher # the better) go with on that fits you environment...Peace
