you don't have to replace the oil drain filter after every change. When I change mine, I wipe it with a clean rag and inspect it for deep nicks or cracks or see if it's bent. I've changed the oil twice this year and the washer looks like new still. On a side note, when you replace the oil filter (I use STP) dip your finger in a little engine oil and lubricate the rubber washer that is on the new filter.
On the home page of this group, the oil change process is listed. 2 questions... is the fram PH6017a for all zx6r bikes? (mine a 2000) and also, on the page it says that it is optional to change the washer. Is this true? I want to start doing my own oil, but as with a car, you need to change the washer every time...which is right?
