have just noticed that i am getting a creamy mayonnaise type gunge on my oil filler cap, thought the worst andsuspected a head gasket failure or the like checked everything and all seems ok no coolant loss whatsoever, the only thing i can think of is i have just started a new job much closer to home (2miles) and perhaps the engine is not warming enough to get rid of any condensation that combined with the falling temperature what do you think guys im a little puzzled. ps i use a fully synthetic oil from putoline

Yeah, that would be my first guess. Take it out on the motorway for ten miles or so and see if it goes away.
Condensation may not burn off because of the short trip and cold temperatures. A longer ride is excellent advice. Change the oil religiously at least as frequently as the manual suggests, too.

Also, it is likely that the battery charge does not refresh during the short trip. Consider a battery tender if you do not use one.
cheers guys talked to a guy last night and his advice was pretty much the same using an optimate at the moment very impressive piece of kit, thanx again for putting my mind at rest guys
