book says (for 08 zx-6r) 23 foot-pounds of torque for oil filter which is 1 more pound than the drain bolt (once again manual specs). however, dealer changed my brake in period oil and the filter was very close to loose when I check it out cleaning the bike. if im headed for a track day should I spin it on with that much torque due to high pressure at high rpms..should I always torque to 23 ft/lbs? i know the book says so but 23 ft/lbs is like...lata torque. any experinced guys willing to spill me some knowledge. thanks

The book says 23, torque to 23.

You can torque more then 23 by hand, grab and twist. I never torque my filter and plug. Its either tight or its not, i see no reason to click it. I am not recommending to do it this way, just telling you how i do it. if you want to be on the safe side, do it by the book.

Put a little oil on the o-ring and hand tighten. Thats how I put filters on all my rides and have not had a single one leak.
