There are some postings going on about oil changes and stuff, so I remembered I have this doubt a long time ago, but never cleared it out 'cause I always forget to talk about it when I'm with my friends. Well, tonight I will not forget.

So, what I want to know is what's the difference between mineral, semi-sintetic and 100% sintetic oils? Which one runs better, why, what are they made of, and so on.

Thanks, iowazx6r. The guy at Kawasaki where I serviced my bike for the first time (500 miles) said they've put 100% synthetic oil, so if I ever had to fill it again, to be sure to use the same type.

About which one (brands) is the best I don't really care about your opinions because here in Europe the brands are different. We have lot's of brands, but some that may be familiar to US-guys are Putoline and Suchs/Sikolene and that's about it.

Hi there Joybringer.

Yes, there is Castrol here, but I think the guys at Kawasaki used Galp (portuguese state brand) oil. It has very good reputation... it is used in every motorcycle and automobile races where portuguese riders/drivers participate. It is one of the major sponsorers here in Pt for motorsports.

But... tell me... why should I put a RED oil in my beautiful GREEN Kawi? Besides... everybody knows GREEN is the fastest color, so a green oil should be better than a red one. I'll start asking for green oils
