last time i changed my oil i put shell rotella 15w-40. this time i accidently got 5w-40. will the thicker oil have any detrimental affects on my engine?

haha, i only paid $3000 for it and have put nearly 10,000 miles on it. still want to buy it? just kidding i wouldn't sell it if someone offered me more for it. i'm taking it i don't have anything to worry about.

Not really. You might notice a difference in shifting but that is about it. If you are really concerned with it, just change the oil again.

yea no biggie. if you ride it and feel like it makes a bad difference, then just change it again like xtremewlr said

5w-40 is thinner than 15w-40. As long as you didn't put automobile oil in it you're fine. I've heard of running Rotella, anybody else have experience with it...especially as far as the clutch is concerned.

I have ran Castol GTX car oil in my bike in a pinch for a whole weekend racing with no problems. I wouldn't suggest anyone to do it but I would do it again in a pinch.

I'm running the Shell Rotella T 5w40 (blue container) and my bike is running fine. Never miss a shift, oil level is fine too.
