anyone familiar with this? Its the group that started riding as the escort for funeral processions of fallen soldiers to help deter protestors (the crazy in-bred hicks that think dead soldiers is God's way of punishing America for allowing homosexuality), well tonight there is a PGR mission escorting a soldier's remians from the airport to the funeral home, here in omaha.

it's something i believe in strongly, but have not yet had the opportunity to join, so i'm going to try to make it tonight even though its a bit rainy and shitty out. just curious if any of you have participated. it's mostly cruisers/harleys/vets, but they invite all riders to support.

if any of you are in my area and want to get together and do this let me know, thanks. -Ryan

I'm on their mailng list but every one of the notifications are for funerals too far (over 250 miles) away, and on weekdays. It's a good group and a worthy effort. If they come up with any I can get to without missing work, I will be there to add my support.

I think what the bikers do is awesome! People go to mourn their loss and don't need to hear that their loved one died because they were being punished by god, man that pisses me off!!

I think it is a very good cause and have participated once. People that would protest where loved ones are mourning deserve to die. Sorry.

I dont think that i could ever participate in the PGR because I would kill someone who was protesting at a fallen soldiers funeral. I give them alot of respect though, they must have incredible self control.

I rode in the one back in July and that one was in the rain. As a member of the US Army I was moved and found myself getting teary eyed during the whole thing. There were a ton of bikes and of course some worthless protesters there as well but lets say there protest didn't go so well. :D

If anyone wants info one this stuff its here http://patriotguard.org/

This group of religious zealots knowns as the Westboro Baptist Church led by "pastor" Fred Phelps is out of Topeka Kansas. They travel from state to state protesting dead soldier's funerals. They may not have visited New Jersey yet, but if they get the chance they will. They've been to Michigan a couple times.
The Patriot Guard is a great cause, but like others mentioned, I'd have a hard time not beating the ever living crap out of these fanatics if they were to show up to any funeral whether it be a soldier or just some random person. That has to be one of the worst kinds of disrespect someone can show.
