i dont have that bike, but if its not obvious, then you probably have to pull the tank.
my 636 is that way. the plastic is attached from the inside.

Pop the seat, take out the push-pin, and pull the plastic, give it a little force for it to come off it's rubber mounts. Very easy, definitely NO NEED to take off the tank first.

That worked came off easy, and are now wrapped in carbon film it looks sweet!
