I'm assembling my fork back together, and I need to know how to set the rebound screw on the top cap before installing the top cap.

Anyone knows?

I have tried backing it out fully before mounting, but when the cap is all the way on, the rebound adjuster is very tight, and i can only turn it about 1/4 !

Turned the rebound adjuster all the way in, and one turn out(Maybe I should only have made that half a turn or 1/4) and the on with the cap until it stops, tighten the locknut.
An then the same with the other one.

Turn the adjuster to full stiff, screw cap on until it starts to get tight, back it off 1/4 turn, then tighten the nut to the bottom of the cap.

Or before you loosen the cap in the very beginning, measure how far down the cap is screwed to the damping rod holder. Since you're well past this point, do as the first paragraph says. Good luck.
