All right, bought my baby 2007 summer in bone stock condition with 16k kms on clocks and my sincere intention was to keep it close to that, just some small mods OEM style.

Couple days after getting her home:


First things to go were those hideous stock turn signals and rear fender assembly, rear light has signals integrated and front signals are self made:



After my gf got a bad burn on her leg, stock slip-on was changed to a one with a bit more sound and a bit less weight and heat.


While doing 18k kms service on the bike I noticed secondary butterflys were stuck open and bought myself a second set of throttle bodies to address the problem. Turns out it's the ecu that's faulty. Also added some stainless steel brake lines front and a K&N filter.

In autumn made the cauge color swap to see those revs better, helped a bit but analog tach is seriosly needed:


Last days before taking the bike for it's winter sleep installed HIDs for some improved visibility on dark roads:



During winter got my hands on a kit ecu (thanks for MeangreenRR, eventually :D) which solved the problem for those secondary valves too.

This summer went mostly commuting, nothing special - some new tires, new selfmade front signals, a duck tail.

But this winter is going to be a different story.

This is the situ now:

A lot of stuff is going to be changed, including suspension, brakes, wheels, rear sets, exhaust and color. There will not be a lot of expensive aftermarket stuff though. Stock rear light will be back and front light will have a projector retrofit if everything goes as planned.

I have been postponing this thread times and times for the lack of progress.
Now the frame along with some other parts went for a powder coat. The shop is busy so it will take a week or two to get them back and start putting the bike back together.

Sounds like your sweet ass ride is coming along nicely.
I love the 1st gen 636 in black just so clean & good looking.

cant wait to see what else you end up doing, should be sweet, guessing you are the frame in black?

Swap out the stock Master Cylinder for a Brembo Master Cylinder. It made all the difference in the world for me!

does a master cyclinder really make that big of a difference?

Yes. Not as much on the 05 and newer bikes, because they came with radial MC's from the factory, but on anything earlier it's like night and day.

Front master will be 07 nissin, as will the calipers. Gonna add some EBC HH pads and braided hoses. But I do need a rear master from 07 cause it's black so it will match the frame and oncoming rearsets. :)

GreenRanger & Warbuk: the cat converter on stock can gets hot as hell (it does need over 400 degrees celcius on the inside to work properly, so it's hot on the outside too) and my girlfriend touched her leg on the can while climbing. Got a real bad burn... :|

But anyways that slip-on is going to be history, got my self full exhaust waiting on top of the shelf. :)

Jesus, it took a while to get it. :D English is not my native, and finnish doesn't have different words for different sexes. :D Have to fix that up immediatly. :D

seems like it should be pretty sweet when it's done. Carbon fiber can would probably run the coolest, hardly even that hot when bike is at full temperature :]

Don't sweat it...we were just giving you a hard time. I was guessing that's what you meant.

this is what it will look like with a black frame and subframe. i did the swingarm too but no pics of that.

Looks sweet... There are chances that the bike might not come out black anymore though... ;)

The oncoming can is titanium but could get my hands on a gixer Micron polished MotoGP for reasonable price.
But I think I'm going with the side exhaust.

GreenRanger: kept laughing for that the whole morning, so don't worry. :)

Bought some misc items from Kawi dealer today, $135! And that's with the company discounts I'm getting. :D
Basicly there were swingarm bearings, exhaust gaskets and couple of bolts and washers. Could have done all the latter cheaper but I was just too lazy.

Other than that nothing new. Chances are high to get that frame and stuff back next week. :)

Radial MC on 05->, and a worthy update on 03/04.
I'm still confused. What does the MC stand for? :puts on flame suit, checks oxygen mask:

I did the majority of things you are planning and really enjoyed the way it turned out.



I just purchased the 05+ wheels and planning to get them powdercoated to match the forks. Good luck with your plans. Sounds like it will turn out really well.
