hi all.

i just got my new R&G crash protectors delivered (supposedly they are the

best......), but the instructions merely say to tighten significantly without

overtightening. Great, thanks alot. Anyone have any ideas as to the torque

settings recommended for the engine mounting bolts which are replaced by

the crash pro bolts?

thanks!

I have those crash protectors. Never tested them (thankfully) but they certainly look great in terms of engineering. You have to cut the fairing to install them in the engine's mounting bolts, but it protects much more than those shitty things these guys show off here at the board [}:)], attached to the fairing bolts, and who'll f*ck up the frame in their first crash [B)]

No idea about the tightning strenght, as my mechanic did all the assembling. Sorry [V]

Edit - Sorry, didn't realise you have the '03 model. Forget about the fairing cutting.

Some people only want them for parking-lot-speed tipover-type protection. That's about all the fairing mount types are good for - but they serve that purpose rather well, so they are useful. Most people would probably remove them for track days I'd suspect.
