Radiator fan

I went for a long ride yesterday. When I got home, I turn off the bike. Took the key out and as I walked away, the fan came on and ran for about 2 min and then shut off. Is this normal? I was surprized it even had power. Oh ya I ride a 636.

The fan will run even after you have shut it off and removed the key to keep from overheating.
Thats what I figured but I was surprized it had power. Does it really help cool if the water isnt being pumped throught the engine?
That's always been my big problem. If it's not an electric pump, then it's not doing much for the engine. But, I would think the assumption is not that you're parking it for good, but you're going to turn right around and restart it. Then it would help for the rad water to be cooler.
Sounds like a good theory. I wounder if it effects the battery?
It would, but it doesn't stay on long enough to make a dent in it.
