the spring on my rear shock is looking decidedly tatty due to the combination of no hugger lack ,british winter and lack of cleaning by the previous owner i have cleanedthe rear shock to with an inch of its life but the flaking paint really catches the eye (yuk). anyway id like to know if it is possible to remove the spring with a view to replacing it or getting it stripped and repainted the shock is still working perfectly well so i dont really want to change it just for aesthetics

The spring is easy to get off once the shock is removed. Since it comes painted you could repaint it or better still have it powder coated.

Or...if you're removing the shock anyways, send the entire unti and have it tuned for you. They generally replace the spring anyhow. Costs around $150 USD.
