Rear wheel

quick question. I removed my front and rear wheels to polish them and I noticed that if I grab my sproket it has a little play in it not front to back play but side to side play. The play is almost not even noticable. Is this supposed to be there I know there are something they call cush drives somewhere back there. Should I worry about this or is it normal?

If you pull on the sprocket it will come off the wheel with the sprocket carrier. You will notice there is a ball bearing inside the spocket carrier. That bearing needs to be lubed occassionally. The rest of the bearings in the wheels are sealed.
yeah but should the sproket have any play in it.
There should be no play between the sprocket and the carrier. There is a little play between the carrier and the wheel where the fingers fit between the rubber pads.
That's where the play is thanks johnsey. Also while were on the topic of the wheels when I put them back together do I lube anything ie the axels?
I put a thin coat of grease on the axle to keep down corosion.
