yes it definetely better to check them sooner. my book says 24000, ill check mine at 10000. but manufactures especially cars try to advertise a "low maintenance vehicle" this especially comes into play when they recomend very long oil change intervals. it makes the estimated yearly maintenance costs lower. they really dont have the vehicles best interests in mind.
