I am 5'6" and have a 29" seam. So even on bike as low as the kawi I do have problems. I would suggest to people new to the bike to NOT lower the bike and in fact follow most of the advice on this thread. Shave the seat. However which way you want to do it, bring it down to make you most comfortable as possible. Lowering your bike can effect you in more ways than I can even comprehend. Suspension travel, geometry, etc. In fact when setting up your suspension for track they tend to RAISE the rear to help your steering.

So yeah, shave the seat, get used the riding on a bike that's a little taller than you'd like, but don't lower it.
