Hi guys,
I've been riding a Z800 for three yrs now. The service agency says that the spark plugs need to be changed at 20,000 KM. I'm presently at 17,000 KM. Just need some inputs from experienced riders on the forum as to how long the original plugs last, what are the symptoms that indicate that a change is required and what are the best replacement plugs. Also, any DIY video or guidance that anyone can give?

If the service interval is 20k thats where I would change them. I would just use exact replacements for whatever plug the bike came with from the factory.

Here is a video on the Z800 tank removal for servicing the air filter, should be the same process with the addition of removing the air box to gain access to the valve cover area to get to the spark plugs -

I think some of the intervals are a bit early personally, I'm going to be servicing a friends Z800 (2016) 7700 miles (12500km)
Spark plugs recommend at 2years (12000 miles/20000km) with this in mind I might check/gap the plugs, but that's all.
If anyone knows the correct gap let me know (I'm guessing 0.7-0.8mm)
As for symptoms, probably a misfire? That's probably the worse that can happen. Unless a bike/car is mistreated, then you might get a spark plug fail. There again, I remember talking to an old mechanic friend. Who told me he's see brand new plugs fail.
