Looking at the plugs won't tell you much. If you want to take them out it ain't hard. Pull the tank and air box then use the tool in the owner's tool kit to get the plugs out. If I were going to all the trouble to get the plugs out I would replace them while I was there.

once you got the tank/airbox off, you'll see the 4 caps on them.
disconnect the wire clip and start spinning em side to side and pulling until they come loose, it might take a while if they've been in there a while.
It's a bit of a pain, but I agree with sw, might as well replace em while yer at it, they are only $5 each.

i have an 01 zx6r. I dont think the carbs are adjusted correctly so I am attempting to remove the spark plugs to see if they are fouled. They are a real bitch to get to or maybe i am going about it wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions or know where there is a free online repair manual that i could refer to.
thanks
