I am looking to get performance sprockets, which are around $160.00 i've seen so far. I heard someone on here say they had 14/42, but on the webpage for them they go even higher in ones like 14/47 i think it was. Should i get that one instead?? What's the difference, and is there a limit on how far to go???

I have the 14/42 Renthol combo with a D.I.D. gold chain and i love it. It added a lot of the start, but ppl say you loose some of the top end. I think i would not go over the 42 bc if you did you might loose a lot of the top and your bike will be very hard to control of the start. Mine wants to do wheelies everytime i hit the gas hard but i cant imagine 47 unless you want a trick bike. Maybe that will help. to see what the chain and the sprocket combo look like on my bike go to http://andyb550.tripod.com/andys2000meangreenzx6r/id3.html

thanks for the feedback, i totally understand what your saying about how you lose your top end, and if you noticed a difference w/ the 14/42 than i will probably get those also. Curious, where did you get them from? I was on the Renthal site, but thought you knew of another site.

You're lucky that a little time was all you lost. Breaking chains aren't usually much fun at all.
