It is perfectly fine to use some non-bike oils (such as Mobil 1 15w-50). The clutch will not be affected unless the oil contains friction modifiers. Oils with these modifiers will be labeled energy-conserving. Those are the ones you want to stay away from.
What are the best kinds of synthetic oils to use in a bike? I have been told to only use motorcycle oil. Never use motor oil. Motor oil is design for car engines not bike engines. The bearings etc. are different in bikes and the oil is also use for the transmission where it isn't in a car. The additives in motor oil aren't good for a wet clutch either. I would appreciate advice anyone can give me. [^]
