I currently ride a 02 Haybusa and am going to be getting a new bike soon, so I went to a dealer yesterday and looked at a 2008 Hayabusa and a 2008 ZX14 and discovered the ZX14 was 100% more comfortable than the 08 Busa. I ride around 7000-8000 miles per year and most of them are 2 up riding with my wife. My main concern is comfort due to the fact that the seat for the passenger on the ZX14 is not as wide or thick as the Hayabusa. Anybody have any suggestions or has anyone rode a 08 ZX14 and 08 Hayabusa with 2 people? Any help or information would be very helpful. Thanks

I have rode both the 08 busa and 07 14! and the 14 is more comfortable than the busa and the riding is about identical on both bikes but the 14 looks a lot better.

Well this year 2008 both bikes are really good..Yes the zx14 has more power and comfort no doubt for the rider.. As far as passenger my wife says it hurts her back and she is to far back to reach the gas tank for stability ect... The busa passenger gets better comfort then the rider lol.. But hey whos more important while riding yea... the one controlling the bike..

^^^^Thats the factory seat off the concourse 1400. You can get them straight from Kawi, I have also seen them on E-Bay for a good price.

I have 14,000 miles on the 14 with turbo, over 23,000 total, I really don't know if the Busa could take the abuse that has been dished out to my bike. The 14 has a much larger lower end altogether and is smooth as glass. The only part that has failed is the license plate bulb. 37 minutes WOT @ 5lbs boost.

The 14 is hands down the better bike in my opinion. The new busa is hideous and overrated. The only Busa's that have looked ok and much better than the new ones. It's like they are trying to make it uglier every year. LoL. I see atleast 5 of them per day ride by the shop and when I go to bike weeks there are always a shit load of them there as well. Everyone around here has Suzuki's and I am tired of seeing them and hearing people talk shit about Kawi's. I personally think the Kawi's are much better looking and reliable than the Suzuki's hands down. I cant wait to pick up my 14 so I can shut everyone of them up. My nephew who has a GSXR 750 keeps telling me not to get it cause it is a big bike and that it wont carve corners very well. I plan to prove otherwise. I know it wont corner like my 636 but people talk like it wont turn at all and that its only for going straight. I am keeping my 636 for the track and some street use if my girlfriend ever gets brave enough to ride.

2008 Hayabusa

While I'll be the first to admit the 08' Busa is not without it's (engine buzz @4500rpm etc.) faults it's not as bad as some of you see it. Valve tune-ups are at 12,000 K unlike 6 for the ZX-14 and so on.

In real world riding the acceleration is second to none in the straights and on the twisties the bike feels like it's on tracks. Sure, for long distance riding this may not be the best choice but if 90% of your riding is around town with the odd road trip then you couldn't go wrong with a 08' Hayabusa. This puppy is Viagra on two wheels! ;-)

Styling? Purely subjective but I went with the Hayabusa over the ZX 14 because it. A 'sometimes riding acquaintance' of mine who has an 08' 14 never has people look at his bike when we ride together because as one guy put it "nothing on the 14 stands out, looks like all the rest of the generic sport bikes while the Hayabusa looks like it has an almost organic look to it, nothing else like it on the road". Just repeating what the general consensus seems to be...

Oh, and for the record he can't beat me (nor I him when we switch bikes) on straights or twisties. Come real close a few times on roll-on's mind you.

Valve clearance inspect is 15,000 miles/24K from the Kawasaki shop manual- Periodic Maintenance section 2-3.
Can you elaborate on "and so on"?
The 08 isn't as fast as the 07 because of the rich top end mixture that was supposed to compensate for the ram air. A PCIII would fix that.
