My bike needs some new tires and I am not sure on which ones to get. I read the FAQ on which is the best road tire. I need a tire that will get a lot of highway milage on hot roads since I live in Texas where it gets kinda warm. I have another question about the engine temp. A friend of mine who has a 2003 Honda cbr f4i said his bike has a fan to cool down the engine when the temp reaches 225 degrees F. Is there a fan on the ninja that comes on if the engine temp gets to warm before it gets hot enough to cause damage? If there is, at what temp does it come on?

yes there is a fan that come on...and mine doesn't come on until about 225 degrees I think....never looked at the temp when it came on....

it only comes on when it's really hot out and I'm in stop and go traffic...

also, if you want a decent sport tire that will last awhile, look into the BT020's....not as grippy as the BT010's, but it will last alittle longer and grip wont be an issue if your roads are that hot...

Mine comes on at around 104 degrees Celsius, whatever that works out to in F, which only happens if I get caught up in traffic for reasonable lengths of time. Like arturo3rd, it doesn't happens as often as it used to as I got more used to riding it in traffic.

i like my rear dunlop tire. i dont ride for stunts(burnouts) or speed(well,[8D] once in a while) so it holds up pretty good.

I was looking forward to trying out the new Pilot Sports until I found out the bike was coming with a BT012 rear and BT019 front... although I'd probably buy the Rennsports if I was looking at buying now...

On the engine fan topic, has anyone tried the muzzy fan? I heard it is supposed to help with cooling the bike down quicker.

The fan only turns on for a few seconds. Even when I stop and turn it off the fan stays on for less than a minute. It seems impossible for the engine temp to get to high. Thats what the fan and coolant are there for.
