Hello,

98 zx6r fully stock when issue presented itself.

Top end sputter in 3,4,5,6 gear at ~7100 rpm, 3/4 WOT.
Feels like hitting a rev limiter, RPM just stops and holds steady, anywhere from 3/4 -> 100% WOT.

Taken apart and cleaned the carbs (all jets clear), checked plugs, spark, fuel pump, fuel and air filters look good, no exhaust leaks.

Can't figure out.

Any thoughts?

Happy to send $20 in paypal for the winning idea. (Maybe I can get some responses then, lol)

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've read through both provided docs and agree that it feels like a main jet issue.

Can you please confirm that the main jets can only be adjusted by replacing them with different sized jets? or am I misunderstanding?

Maybe you can help, as clearly I need to better understand:

I'm working against the service manual:

--> I note that there are two different main jets, IF these are mixed up, could I expect the OP effects?

There are a few items in the service manual I am having trouble identifying:

Is the "Pilot Screw" as noted in the manual the same as the "mixture screw" in my pic?

Thanks!
