you should've asked for the technicians valve lash readings. i doubt very hard that 12 valves were out of adjustment. i had a '98 that i pounded the hell out of and after 15000 miles only three were out. besides, a qualified tech. can easilt make flat rate on that job. that motor is one of the more easier to work on. even at that, it doesn't matter if one or all 16 are out of adjustments, with the proper tools , you still have to pull the cams, measure and replace necessary shims, and retime the valve train. It's not like the factory service manual doesn't have a chart in it that tells you which thickness shim to put under the bucket!!!!!!!!
