Valve Inspection RIP OFF

Friend of mine just had his 12000K (7500mi) service. Had to have 12 shims replaced (BAD, but thats another story). My question to you guys is -: How many hours did you get charged for this service? Remember it's important to specify if you were charged for checking the valves or ADJUSTING (ie camshafts out). I'm not interested in the cost (this will vary from country to dealer) just the hours.

my friend works at a kawi shop and he did mine. He did it on the side and saved me a shit load. His shop charges it like this. IT a 6 hour prosses. 10 $ a shim and 55$ and hour. you do the math. but the also can change the fuel filter and the oil an bang you for a nother hour while it apart. "Hint remove all plastic and then the ram air system. then send it up" you will save an hour or 2 . well good luck

you should've asked for the technicians valve lash readings. i doubt very hard that 12 valves were out of adjustment. i had a '98 that i pounded the hell out of and after 15000 miles only three were out. besides, a qualified tech. can easilt make flat rate on that job. that motor is one of the more easier to work on. even at that, it doesn't matter if one or all 16 are out of adjustments, with the proper tools , you still have to pull the cams, measure and replace necessary shims, and retime the valve train. It's not like the factory service manual doesn't have a chart in it that tells you which thickness shim to put under the bucket!!!!!!!!
