If you can't get the information from the previous owner the only way is to have it checked. Checking and adjusting valves is often neglected because it is relatively difficult and expensive. Speaking from personal experience I checked the valves on my '95 ZX-6R at 15,000 miles and 7 of 8 exhaust valves needed adjusting and a couple of intakes. I could tell that the valves had never been checked.

Personally, I say that after buying a used bike, that should be the first thing a person should do right after lubing and adjusting the chain and changing the oil and filter.

If you check and adjust them, then you know they are good, and that you don't have to look at them again for another 6k miles.

BC.

I didn't do it, I swear.
And even if I did, what makes you think I would admit it to you?

i just bought 98 6r, but i dont know when i have to
adjust valves. I heard that every 12000 km must adjust valves,
but i dont know when earlier owner adjusted those. How i can know
