Hey. I'm taking my fuel pump off the gas tank for about a month to do some repairs on the bike (e.g., check valves, clean fuel filters, replace spark plugs). I'm worried it may start to rust during that time due to the residual ethanol gasoline that's on it and inside it. Would spraying WD-40 on it to prevent rust be a problem when I run the bike again as far as getting into the gas line? Is WD-40 bad for engine operation or any part of the fuel system?

Thank you! I hope everyone is staying safe and riding safe.
