hi all,
picked up my 02 model earlier. first big bike for me,love it lots.
what temperature is it meant to run at ??
i had it on the motorway for a bit at first,and it was showing about 66 C,but when i had it in town later on it was getting up as high as 90 C sitting at the lights once,rest of the time crawling about in town it was running about 75-80.
this seemed really high to me,or is this perfectly ok ??
sorry for such a dumb question,but any advice much appreciated.

Do a search there is lots of info on this.
Mine runs between 155 and 185F at speeds and at idle it can get as high as 215
No biggie, it will flash HIGH when it is getting too hot.

you know what its like when you get a new motor,you dont want to risk frying it but youre not used to it.

My 02 runs pretty much the exact same temperatures. No problem. Idling over the summer will routinely put you 100+... so don't sweat it now!

had a trawl through all the temp posts now,and mind put at ease.easy to get paranoid when youre sitting there watching it go up,thinking "fuuuuuuuu**",dont want to cook my new bike. will know now not to worry.

same here...

On the freeway/hwy my temp usually sits around 68c and in stop and go traffic, it averages around 90c, however the highest temp my bike has been was 104c.
