i have given up trying to use the onboard mic on my camcorder and last night tried an external mic under my rear seat but still picked up wind noise over 70mph. at higher speeds it masked the exhaust completely. anyone any advice or tips re mic placement?
i had a sock wrapped round it and it was next to my tool kit under the seat yet still got wind

tuck the mic up under the windscreen, put a foam or "deadcat" wind filter/muffler on the mic. problem solved

chunk of foam, cut a slit in it, slide the mike in, tuck it behind the windscreen.

i will try that but i wanted to pick up the exhaust note.
i might try the chunk of foam under the seat first, my sock was not doing the job, and then will try under the screen.
thinking about it would it fit inside the airbox? that might sound pretty cool.
