Two louder popps when air bleeding coolant

Long story short. My beast is in heat, goes up to 4 temp. bars in traffic.
Original coolant 7 years old just replaced 1,000 km ago was heating up before as well.. Have not bleed as I should have since I thought the system will do it itself through the expansion tank. However after reading more on these forums I attempted to bleed. Opened up the radiator cap, started the engine. 30 Seconds later I've heard two loud popps, like something broke, from the bike with a little coolant spill.
Placed back the cap, everything appear to be normal. Bike has 11,000 km
Let me guess the popps were trapped air insight ?
Should I continue? Coolant is all the way up with the engine cool.
Thanks everyone
