Lighting mod.

Hi Folks,

On my ZZR 600 I replaced the back lighting bulbs in the speedo box with blue LED's which I really like the look of.
I've only just bought the ZX-9R E1 (2000) so mechanically I'm still finding my way around the bike.
I was hoping to do a similar lighting mod to the 9R but reading the manual it says the the speedo box is a factory sealed unit.
Is this true or can it be opened? Are there any serious do's or do not's I need to be aware of?
I don't want to disturb the clocks unless there is going to be some net gain.

Thanks for any input.
