Ever since my "mini" crash on the freeway, my engine has been making a weird noise. I'm not a motorcycle expert, but the noise sounds like the pistons is scratching inside the cylinder walls, like friction on friction.

I thought it was my front brakes because it kind of sound like a braking noise, but when I pressed the front brakes while i was riding and while i was using the throttle, it still had that noise.

Unless i'm hearing things...

Is this normal? Is this happening to other peoples 08 Ninja 250r?

Also, there is a small leak around the valve cover, I think it is oil?

Thanks for reading and any help would be appreciated

I think i might have the same noise coming from my engine.
It almost sounds as if its ticking? right?
Well the guy at the shop said that i might need to have my tune up and valves adjusted since it has not been done in a while.

Not sure if its ticking. Not really sure how to explain it. I guess it's like the brakes is applied on the brake disc when you aren't pressing on the brakes at all. But its coming from the engine.

It might be the valve clearance. I tried checking the valve clearance and following the DIY thread on this forum but I still don't know how to check the valve clearance. I read something online that said I don't really need to until my bike hits 15k miles
