Anyone trusts ICON products?

I'm sure most of us has seen the ridiculously big ads in some bike mags about Icon wear, but I never seen pro riders wearing them. OK, I realize most of their gear is designed for the "street", like their jeans and construction type boots, but I never seen a racer with a Icon helmet or gloves, so are they as good as the other well known brands?....'cuz to me they seem suspect.

thats bullshitbecause i have the icon burner gloves and they are full leather w/ xtra protection on the top of the hand!!

I have the Alliance Damnation helmet, neo daytona hero jacket, the ti-max jacket and an older pair of their gloves. The hero jacket and gloves I wore when I went down. It wasn't until someone noticed the scuff on my jacket shoulder that I even knew that my shoulder hit and scraped. Whatever CE armor was in there, it definetly did its job. gloves held the road rash well, barely chafing them. No bruises or rash on my body. I think their stuff is decent. I generally will only wear the ti-max jacket when it's about 90 degrees outside (in Houston in the summer it's EVERY DAY!) but I know I sacrifice protection for keeping cool when I wear the ti-max. I just got their recon jean pant, no extra padding but they have reinforced knee and thigh things inbetween the denim (still very flexible) and the groin and inner thighs are mesh. Helps keep cool from the ambient engine heat. I agree more bling and trendy, but I like their stuff.

ICON is a very trustworthy company. I own many of their gloves, the mainframe helmet, several pairs of jeans, super-duty and motorhhead boots and a Timax mesh jacket. Everything is well-made and holds their own. The only thing I don't trust completely is the Timax jacket, the mesh is just too light for me. But their leather jackets, I have full confidence in.

Just my mumblings from beneath the visor...

Most of my stuff is Joe Rocket, but I do have a pair of TI mesh pants. They are great in the hot weather. I crashed tested them at very low speed and they are still in one piece. The thread ripped out but didn't break.

In my opinion they should put some padding at the hips, butt and double stitch the seams. The armour in the knees is good though.

I was going to buy the jacket but it's a bit much with the stupid skulls on the shoulders. Too much bling/stunter for me... Their stuff ain't that cheap either.

Astars is much better, but usually more $$. Even JR is slightly better in my opinion, and their stuff is pretty cheap.

I'm sure no one here is about to go test out there Icon gear for the sake of conversation but it seems to be constructed fairly well. My Neo-Daytona is so fucking heavy it should withstand anything LOL.

The reason you don't see any pros wearing their products is because Icon is marketed towards street riding...I don't think they offer a full race suit or racing boots So why would they sponsor any racers.

I feel their marketing is among the best inthe industry. their "tryed and true" ads are great. Don't hate on the company- I wish they were publicly traded cause I would definetly buy thier stock. They design very good looking creative gear that you love to wear. Don't expect them to go anywhere anytime soon.

I agree with you on this, especially the hips.

Actually they are not skulls. They are the ICON i Logo.

icon gloves are horrible. went through 2 different pairs in 2 months just with normal riding (taking them on and off). on one the finger ripped off as i was putting them on, the other had the bottom velcrow part rip off.
Its too bad that you have had such a bad expirience with their gloves. I have a pair of the Ti-Max gauntlet gloves and absolutely love them. I have had them for a year and a half and wear them everytime I ride(almost every day). The only problem I have is that I broke a zipper fob last week. Snapped it in half. It looked bent and I was trying to straighten it............in almost freezing weather. 38 degrees and trying to bend a small piece of metal does not mix.[:I]

I think you mis-understood what I said, they dont make full leathers, meaning one piece suits, not that the gear is'nt full leather.

I have their superduty gloves, superduty jacket and icon halo mainframe helmet! They offer some of the best equiptment out there, period. Even though a young company, their styles, fitment, comfort, and protection is supposed to be top of the line! I am very pleased with their products and recommend them to everyone i know...

I have the Super Duty 2.0 gloves and the Skull Mainframe helmet. I really like the gloves a lot. Very comfortable. Actually let my buddy wear them one day well I was at work and he was out riding and he went down pretty hard. The gloves were scuffed up but his hands were in perfect condition. So they work quite nicely. The helmet on the other hand. I really like the manuverability of the visor (it stays where u want it to) but like tdahle said, the venting could be greatly improved. The sizing is also a bit tighter than a lot of the rest I have noticed. But, I'm happy with the overall quality of both of the items.....

I'm also thinking of picking up their new street riding "Strongarm" jeans for a little added protection riding around on the street. I'll let you guys know how those work out.

I have a shoe and an hjc (i get them at cost) but the only helmet I have been wearing lately is my icon mainframe in the matte black. I was in orange county and had to buy a helmet that night cause i forgot one for my girl and figured if I had to pay retail, I might as well try something different. I'm glad I did. It's sturdy, looks great, and is sooooo much quieter than my other helmets. I can actually hear my ipod now [)]

My wife sports the pink kitty gear and really loves how it was made especially for girls. The cut of the leathers is great for her and the lightweight helmet feels better than the heavier Scorpion she also owns. Plus, she hates being mistaken for a boy when she rides to work. I think the pink does the trick.
