So all of the sudden my 2nd gear what's to pop into N at about 12-13,000 rpm : (, could this be caused by a worn clutch cable or something not adjusted right?

so sorry to reply on old forum new member here and have this problem with this year model and just wondering if these parts is what is needed for the first to second gear problem also

God this problem has me so stressed I can't even sleep, is there any way I could fix this myself... I installed my new clutch myself is it harder than that? What tools are needed? I'm on a severely limited budget, so if anyone has spare parts that I'll need and wants to donate them please pm me.

#14 ·
there are links on the first page of people doing it themselves...i feel you though, i missed second ONCE and have been on pins and needles ever since hoping for the best.....

I took mine apart right away, the only bad part was the shift fork, the gears etc were still ok. I replaced a lot of the parts anyways, but if money is a big concern you might be ok with just the fork. Only way to know for sure is to strip it down and look

I told him I'd do that forks a drum myself, I just need the parts, the only way I'll get the is if I sell some of my stuff so I might just have to do that : / this sucks, I found the parts on eBay as a set for 100$ but idk if I would trust buying them. As for now I'm just gonna shift early in second so I don't pop into N and try and get the parts.

Well I'm trying to sell my paintball gear : (, I should be able to get 500$ for all of it even tho I paid damn near 800$ at retail, if anyone on here might be interested LMK, maby some of you guys have teenagers, they'd love this stuff, I'd concider a even trade for the parts I need just hit me up.

I deff don't want to skimp, but this is something I'm gonna need to save up for, I can do the forks and drum myself, but as far as opening the cAse myself that's something I don't think I could do. If I sell my paintball shit I can buy the parts and than save for the cost to get them installed, or I might just sign up for a credit card to get them so I can get this fixed now.

So iv been doing alot of reading about the trans problems, and it seems when people do bad shifts and shit is when the trouble starts, I run gp shifting since I got the bike, I never miss shifts or anything, this sliping out just randomly started... So is there any chance at all my gears might still be ok?

#27 ·
although gp/reverse shit is supposedly more "positive", lets not forget about your initial concern of "missing" second...regardless of shifting orientation, "missing" second is indicative of your drivetrain not performing up to par and the wear and tear of parts...

sort of tantamount to saying, the syncros on my car might be going, but i always rev match/heel and toe every downshift and have never experienced grinding so its safe to assume the syncros are still good...

on a separate note, if you have aftermarket rearsets or have messed with the length of your shift rod...adjust it and record the findings...could be as simple as that, but i doubt it...

sorry to be a debbie downer about your sitch, but based on historical evidence and the countless cases shared on this very forum, your symptoms/concerns are perfectly aligned with a shot tranny...

why would the length of the shiftrod cause this issue? I put rearset risers on and had to put a long shiftrod on i have noticed when i shift not as smooth but shifts through the gears. What can i adjusted for that??
