My job for the morning is to re-torque my front axle because I believe it may be the sources of my phantom squeak. Anyways, this seems to be the direction several threads on a few different forums go when fooling with the brake doesn't fix it. I don't know if the front wheel is installed at the factory or at the dealer, but it seems like an over-torqued front axle is a pretty common occurrence on the 08 250r.

I don't have a service manual, so on with my questions....

What size socket do I need for the front axle nut (I need to go buy one, as I don't have a set that large)

(I know the rear is 24mm, but the front looks a little smaller)

Also, what is the "official" torque that is required for the front axle???
I have an electronic copy of the OLD manual, but I know several basic torque values actually changed for the 08, so I don't want to go off old info.

nut is 22mm, axle bolt head is a 17mm, I believe. just did took off my wheel today. torque is 65 ft/lbs, but that seemed awfully high when I tightened mine back up, so I backed it off a bit to somewhere in the mid 50s. Cotter pin won't let that nut back off. :D
