The 998 Big Bore kit

Ok, i'm currently going to MMI in phoenix, and loving it, in the clinic that i'm in we are going to have a chance to do some machining and whatnot, so i figured, since the 99 zx9 has a sleeve insert in the cylinders, i'll do the machine work (with teacher supervision) and that way it should save me some money on doing the kit.

My question is, does anyone know of a place where i could buy just the oversized piston sets? i mean, bare basics, pistons, rings, pins, and clips.

Also, seeing as my bike is a little wadded up due to an incident with a pile of leaves, a curb, a tree.... and a fence, and my frame is toasted, what would everyone suggest the best way to go about getting a new frame? I want to put my bike back together around a '00 or newer frame so that i can have a unboltable subframe, since for some reason kawi decided that '98-'99 they would just go ahead and weld the subframe on, plus i like the newer swingarms.

So, junkyard, ebay, what would you guys recommend[?]

www.wiseco.com
On wiseco they only have a listing for a 923 big bore kit. I e-mailed them yesterday, still waiting on a response.

dude, that is super badass. maybe there's somebody who switched out their frame or did a major overhaul for racing or something? Somebody might just have one, maybe?
Yeah i was hoping i could find the same thing. but the motorcycle dismantlers want $500 for a salvage title frame, and i havn't really found any decent deals on ebay yet. i guess i'm just stuck waiting for a good deal to come around.

youll need more than motor mounts,...youll have to cut frame, widen and reweld as well....the zx12 motor is too wide to fit in between the frame of the 9.....

Hey,
I think that there is some kind of head modification that is required for the 98-99 models for the 998 kit to work along with using a one piece cylinder block. But when you contact Muzzy about your build please pass it on to the forum. Especially what is the mod to the head of the 98-99 models.

The mod is simple. all you have to do is some small notches in the bottom of the cylinder head to make a small passage to connect some coolant holes to each other in 6 places. its all of 10min of work. and you can still use the head on 98-99 blocks as well if you want to un-do the 998 kit
