As the title states, I need to know what my options are for this bike in terms of a full exhaust system. I currently just have a bolt on RS3 that is shortened, but I would love to do a full header back system. Anybody ever done this? What did you do? Thanks!

I'm not sure how hard it is to find a full system for the 99 but my 95 was ridiculous. I just watched eBay like a fat kid on a diet watches the Twinkies on the counter lol. I ended up finding a discontinued full M4 system and got it for a hell of a steal. Just be patient one will turn up.

Also, not sure how many years will swap in but I had a 98 system on my 95 before I found the M4. check the master parts swap list to see what years used the same headers and you might get lucky and find out that you can use a full system from a newer model.

Exhaust,

-03/04 ZX6R Header will bolt up, either aftermarket or stock. Doing this will open a wide variety of slip-on options including highmount pipes!
-98+ ZX9R Bolt on Cans will fit right up the the ZX6R

Thats what the list states, but I am not sure that it is saying an 03/04 header will work for the 98, or if it is talking about the zzr...

Heck yeah I'd sell it. No reason to keep it around.

So, let me get this straight... If I get an 03/04 header, I would assume that would include the mid-piping, etc.? I might get slapped for this, but the Megaphone exhaust gives me chills. I'd love to be able to do this... Anyone ever done it? Sorry for all the questions. Im a tuner car junky new to the motorcycle world lol.

The 03/04 header will bolt right up. I have one on my 06 ZZR coupled to an 07/08 ZX6R undertail carbon fiber Yoshimura RS-5. If you get a full system for an 03/04 it will bolt up. The can may be a little different at the passenger peg mount, but it's easy to work with. I used an 03/04 ZX6R can bracket and removed my passenger pegs on my ZZR subframe and it worked fine (still have it laying around actually collecting dust).

Also the headers for the 03/04 and midpipe are separate pieces unlike your stock setup. You'll need the midpipe as well. Most sellers sell them separate.

You just give me a price when you buy your new system. If you wanted to do a megaphone exhaust (like I did for a while) then you wouldn't need the mid pipe. Just buy the headers off of ebay or something and then buy the megaphone exhaust of your choice.

Anyone have any idea if this mod will add any horsepower? I have an '01 6R and I have an '03-'04 header to bolt on, but I want to do before and after dyno pulls to see if it's worth anything.

I honestly think that after I get my fairings situated, that I will decide what to do with exhaust. I may end up just keeping the shorty RS3, or even modifying my current header/midpipe to accept a gp/megaphone style exhaust. I got to hear my bike go up the road the other day (my riding buddy got on it), and it sounds ALOT sexier at that end of things!

I will be posting another couple topics to get some ideas on the full build, so check those out as well.
