Do gas tanks have an overflow hose?

so i was working on my bike the past weekend... and i found a tube that connects from my tank (its not the fuel line)... to nothing..
it literally is just a hose that connects to nothing...

is it like a tank overflow thing?

what is this? the bike runs fine... is it supposed to connect somewhere?

pics wont load for me(crappy computer)... but the over flow starts up by the filler collar-on the painted area of the tank- and drains down by the kickstand.hope that helps out

yeah it is around the kick stand area..

Noticed that hose a few weeks after i got my bike too. I've always sorta wondered what that was myself

. So the hose is just suppose to drain gas if the tank is over-filled too much??

Yup pretty much. I noticed it the first day I got my bike from the dealership.
