Yes and no. The 00-02 gas cap is the same up to 06 or so with the ZX6Rs and some 10Rs (04/05 i think) But the 98/99 is completely different cap. The ignitions can be swapped with pretty much any one, as i have a 06 zx10r ignition on my bike now, but i had to eliminate the plug on it and make my own plug. The 03/04 ignition only uses 5 wires opposed to the 98-02 and 06/07 zx10r that use 7 wires. I swap the ignition between my 00 w/636 engine/wiring and my bike i am building with 98 engine and wiring. They are no the same size and wont bolt right up, same thing with the seat locks, they are different shape, but all can be made to work, but as a direct bolt on, stick with the 98-02 stuff.

I have yet to test it, but i am going to go out on a limb and say yes, as the 98-06 rotors were the same pattern in the rear as well, so i think the 07/08 is also the same.

07-08 zx6r intake boots swap over?
Like for the throttle bodies? If so no, well actually nothing motor wise will swap from a 07-08 its a new motor design.

Also for the other guy above, for 95-97 parts, i don't really know, only messed with newer parts, but have heard the wheels are different, forks are different, well, almost everything is different, but i do know a lot of the motor parts are similar or the same.

So you used the 05+ upper fairing on your 98-02? MF I wish I would've seen this before. I asked that same question and everyone told me it was way to different to work.
I have, but i also used the mids and lowers. Right now i have fully mounted a set of 03/04 fairings on my bike, which are a much better fit, the 05/06 is quite a bit more difficult as nothing really lines up like the 03/04. Either way just the upper will not work, well it could if you got a fiberglass one and did some major, i mean major work on it...

Right, that's what I was getting at, using the entire fairing set. I thought only the 00-02 fairings were interchangable. Here I just bought 01 fairings off ebayy last night. :( I wish I would've known I could get the 03+ to work w/o much work. I like them a whole lot better.

Well its still a whole lot of work, when i say not much work, well its not much for me, be neither is tearing down a complete engine to a pile of parts and reassembling lol. It takes a bunch of hours of lining up, and a bunch of brackets to be made, drilled, and tapped, and also welded if you like. Also requires making inside upper ram air covers, and making a custom ram air setup, also custom fairing stays etc, not a simple job for most, but its an everyday thing in my garage/soon to be shop...

Well I am new to the forums. I have an 07 zzr600 and seem to have a hard time finding parts for. I have heard that the 98-02 zx6r is the same bike as the 05-07 zzr600. I have seen they look the same, but how much are they really alike? mainly I am wanting to know if I bought a windscreen, frame sliders, swingarm spools, front flush mount turn signals, etc if they will be a direct bolt on to my 07. any info would be appreciated. thanks

Yeah dude, identical bikes, only difference is the cheaper suspension parts on the zzr600 and solid color paint, but its all bolt on and go.

Does anyone know if I can use the transmissions gears from a 99 zx6r in a 95 zx6r? or How can I go about finding this out? The 95zx6r is the ZX600F model and the 99 zx6r is the ZX600G/H model. Thanks.
You can cross reference the part numbers, but i doubt they are the same, though they may work if you swap the entire tranny as the 95-97 block was pretty much the same as the 98-04 block really. if you swap everything including clutch basket i am sure it would work, but just some gears, well i dont know.

ttr50, Thanks for the reply, appreciate the info. One more question, since the 98-04 block is essentially the same as the 95-97 block then can i do an engine swap and put a 98-04 engine on a 95 zx6r? Would I have to do any modifications to my 95 zx6r to make the 98-04 engine fit?

The reason I ask is because my first gear is shot in my 95 zx6r, it's missing a tooth, and I cannot seem to find a replacement 1st gear for my bike. I'd rather change out the 1st gear.

The 03/04 had different top ends as it was a 636 and fuel injected, and i believe the block was slightly different near the cylinders, but the rest of it where the tranny is and the back 2 mounting points are the same. If in fact the 98-02 has the same mounting positions then you could swap engines, but you would need a new harness and gauges too. You can buy an OEM gear from flatoutmotorcycles.com for pretty reasonable i would think, they have the cheapest OEM parts i have found.
