nope, zx6 wheels are not the same. The 98-02 zx6r wheels are the same though. The zx6 had skinnier wheels etc.

Just for note. the 05 636 rear shock WILL NOT fit the shock linkage for an 05 ZZR600.

The lower mount on the 636 shock is about 1.5mm more narrow. Also, the linkage for the 636 will not fit the ZZR because the other two mounting points (dog bones and frame) are more narrow as well.

The upper mounts are fine, but the 636 shock is considerably longer than the ZZR unit as well. (+5mm ish)

Man, looks like its time for a trip into work and warm up the mill.

Yeah i never tried a stock swingarm with a 636 linkage, i used a 636 swingarm, shock and linkage on the 6r frame. But you can make the mounts work with a little fab no problem at all...

I have, but i also used the mids and lowers. Right now i have fully mounted a set of 03/04 fairings on my bike, which are a much better fit, the 05/06 is quite a bit more difficult as nothing really lines up like the 03/04. Either way just the upper will not work, well it could if you got a fiberglass one and did some major, i mean major work on it...

are you saying it is possible to put a fairing off an03/04 model onto a G model (98/99) bike? if so would i need a top fairing bracket and a screen etc? i hope so, i need a new fairing on my g model and fancy a change!
thanks

would i be able to use zx6r g2 (99) forks in my zx6r j 2000 yokes? if they are just longer then i simply clamp them with 1 1/4 inch sticking out.
are they the same diameter? and caliper wheel and fender mounts the same?
cheers

Anything is possible with a welder and some fiberglass... Its not a direct bolt on at all, you need to make a ram air setup, and mounts for the bodywork etc, it gets expensive, 400+ for the bodywork (fiberglass), another $200 for the headlight, $75 for the fairing stay, $50 for the air intake, $20+ for the windscreen, so thats about $800 and you still need to make the mounts and figure out a ram air setup, and you need to replace the gauge, so thats another $100+ and then rewire the harness for the gauge.

Front End Swap

I'm about to do the front end swap and seen that there is going to be a problem. The steering stops on the 99 zx6r are on the lower front top side of the clamp. All the 03/04/05/06 636 are on the lower rear upper side of the clamp. What mods have you all done to over come this problem. I've yet seen pics or any ?'s or answers on this mod.

Also > Will a 07 zzr600 swap over with no mods. The only thing I can see would be the clip-on are under the upper clamp. The steering stops/wheel spacers/brake line mounts and key mount and the side fender fairings/calipers look to be all the same as the 99 zx6r. The 99 fender rear mount hole is not the same as the 07.

Zx6r Top Fairing Swap J1 To J2???

Hi I have a 01 ZX6R J2 which needs a replacment top/nose fairing. I have found a replacement part from a J1 model, will this be an exact replacement inc colours (black/green). I know there are subtle difference on the rest of the fairing between these models but the top fairing looks the same??

Thanks

Sam

I'm keen to do a swingarm swap on my 98 6R for a later (00 -> onwards) model one so I can fit a 180 rear tyre and hugger. What year is easiest to do, and what parts do I need to buy to do it easy? i.e could I just pick a whole rear set up, swinger, shock, wheel, and linkage and bolt it all on?

07 zzr to 03-04 636 motor

I am wondering if a complete motor assembly will fit in a 2007 zzr? I believe that the 02-04 636 will fit in the 98-99, but what about the zzr. What other possible motor options are there? thanks.

THE ZZR AND THE ZX6R OF 98-02 ARE THE SAME BIKE, EVERYTHING WILL BOLT UP! With that being said. I think you mean the 03-04 636 as the european 02 636 was a the same as the 00/01 ZX6R only difference being a bored over engine. In any case a 03/04 Fuel Injected 636 will not be a direct bolt in any bike. THe rear 2 mounts bolt up to the 98-02 ZX6R and the 05-08 ZZR600. But the front engine mounts are positioned differently and would need to re cut and re-welded more forward.

EVERYONE, THIS THREAD WAS NOT INTENDED TO ANSWER EVERYONES QUESTIONS, I STATED THAT FROM THE BEGINING, THIS THREAD IS FOR INFO REGUARDING WHAT FITS WHAT, NOT HEY DOES THIS FIT THIS OR THAT, AND SOME YOU THE QUESTIONS IN HERE JUST ASK WHAT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED, EX. WOULD BE THE PEOSON A FEW POSTS UP ASKING ABOUT A ZZR600 SWINGARM!!!! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU ASK, THERE ARE A TON OF VERY USELESS POSTS IN THIS THREAD.

Hi Guys, Just a quick update.

I have been doing a 03/04 front end swap on my 98 G1 and have run into a snag. When trying to fit my stock 98 front wheel using the 03 axle and 98 spacers it didnt fit. I have done some digging and found out that there is a 5mm difference in the fork spacing between the 98 and 03 (the 03 being wider)

Because of this you will need the 00/01 front wheel spacers which are 21.5mm to make it fit. The 98 stock spacers are 19mm.

This is on a UK/European bike not sure if the US bikes are the same???
