If you have the kickstand down and put it in gear, does the bike die? If so it's the light bulb or wiring. If it's in neutral and you put the kickstand down and the bike dies, then it's the sensor.

The actual neutral switch is behind the stator cover towards the bottom of the bike (RIGHT in front of the shift linkage)

 

the sensor should be right above the drive sprocket.. little green wire on it.. gound it to the case to test the light and the rest of the circuit.

 

It's right below the drive sprocket...

its got a green wire and is near the sprocket!!

 

Your switch has a lil button on the end that wears out. My did too had to replace switch. It's right above shift lever
