I can't help you out. For a while i was hearing a slight whistle sound at around 70-80mph. I couldn't figure it out. One day I whipped out my old 85 nighthawk and at 70-80 I noticed the same sound. Turned out that my helmet at the time had a vent that whistled slightly at that speed. kinda weird.

 

When is this noise most pronounced?? I've always noticed a whine in my bike when in a high gear at a low speed,which i've always deemed normal.

 

It seems to be normal. I notice it mostly in first/second/third when I roll off the throttle. It's also noticeable while accelerating gently, but it's not as loud.

It sounds like a straight-cut gear set in a car gearbox, which is about right because the gears in the bike gearbox are straight-cut. You just don't hear the noise on most bikes.

 

I've heard the same noise, especially when down-shifting all the way down to first.
I think it's the slipper clutch, because when i had my '03 zx6r, i never heard that noise.
(i could be wrong though, but that's my best guess)

 

i hear a noise when slowing down at lower speeds, like slow in 2nd or 1st....its like a whining or squeeking bushings or somethin. i dunno, cus i just got it back from its 600 mile service and started noticing it? weird
